Schools sought to lead three new Maths Hubs

Department for Education (DfE) is looking for schools or colleges to take the lead role in three new Maths Hubs

  • Published: 02/04/2019

We are pleased to announce that the Department for Education (DfE) is looking for schools (primary or secondary) or colleges to take the lead role in three new Maths Hubs, covering areas in:

  • West Midlands (Warwickshire, Solihull and Coventry)
  • East of England (Essex, Southend and Thurrock)
  • South West/South East border (Wiltshire, Swindon, West Berkshire, Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell Forest)

The three new hubs will join the successful Maths Hubs Network, led by the NCETM, launched in 2014 and currently comprising 35 Maths Hubs across England. This number will rise to 37 in September 2019, when an additional two hubs in the North West, where lead schools have already been appointed, will start work. By autumn 2020 there will be 40 Maths Hubs supporting mathematics teaching.

The Maths Hubs Network is already very active in these areas, with many schools already engaging. The new hubs will build upon, and work in close collaboration with, all neighbouring and established hubs.

Briefing meetings will be held for interested schools in the week beginning 29 April

The closing date for applications is Thursday 16 May.

More information on how to apply to be a lead school for any of the three new hubs is in this document.
