Secondary ITE professional development materials
Six professional development units designed for ITE tutors to use with secondary trainee maths teachers
We have created six professional development units designed for ITE tutors to use with secondary trainee maths teachers. The first unit introduces trainee teachers to principles of teaching for mastery. The other five introduce the Five Big Ideas of teaching for mastery, exemplified in a secondary school context.
Each unit includes slides, comprehensive session notes and a handout. These resources allow an ITE tutor to run six full sessions on the ideas behind teaching for mastery, aimed at a novice audience. The structure of the units enables trainees to explore concepts and principles for themselves, as well as providing suggestions for next steps and devising their own lesson activities.
For more information about teaching for mastery in a secondary context, read ourĀ Case Studies, and explore our exemplification in Mastery Explained.
